I woke up at 3:00 am to the sounds of a beeping oven. Panicked I ran into the kitchen and opened the oven door and there stood my brown charred baguettes. The disappointment was overwhelming. I had fallen asleep during the last 15 minute period of cooking. I had been working on this for almost 3 hours, started way to late, and this was my reward. In my haste to learn I forgotten the most important process of any project, planning. With defeat and the lingering burned particles of bread in the air, I called it a night.
This morning I had some cereal, not wanting to touch an oven today and proceeded to have lunch out with Stefanie. Another delicious grilled fish sandwich. Tomorrow is a new day and I’m feeling better about it. I plan to lay out the ground rules tomorrow for this project so I have something to hold myself accountable with. I plan on either writing out any recipes we use or possibly making videos or at least pictures of the process. Until tomorrow, Good night and good eats.
